The Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola, has advised students on industrial attachment in the state public service to take advantage of Information Communications Technology to develop themselves.
The head of service, who spoke on Wednesday in Lagos at a one-day orientation programme for students on industrial attachment in the state public service, also urged them to be hard-working and responsible citizens of the country.
Ademola, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Fiyinfoluwa Ogunbanke, said technologies were the tools of the workplace, adding that only their mastery would ensure the students’ continued relevance.
She said, “You are the future of Nigeria. I want to strongly advise you to be hard-working and responsible. I advise that you eschew vices and all forms of corruption. While the present generation of leaders struggle to keep pace with emerging technologies, they are the toys and playgrounds for your generation. I urge and encourage you, therefore, to take full advantage of ICT to develop yourselves. Ensure that you put your limited time to maximum use at all times.”
Ademola explained that the programme was designed to enhance students’ skills so they could make meaningful contributions to the development of any public or private institution they were assigned to.
